Mode

In statistics there are many useful indices that we can use to describe data. Some common terms are median, mode and mean.

Mode is the value that appears most often in a set of data. It is always used to describe nominal data since mean and median cannot. As for example, the mode of {football, football, badminton, basketball, basketball , basketball} is basketball but there are no mean or median in this dataset. One dataset may contain no mode or more than one. The advantage of mode is that it is not affected by outliers, yet it only employs part of the data which makes it not sensitive to data change.
