GEOGRAPHY:
               
The Macao Special Administrative Region, part of the territory of China, is situated at the Pearl River Delta on the southeast coast of Mainland China, 60km southwest of Hong Kong. The total land area of 29.2  km2 consists of the Macao Peninsula and the islands of Taipa and Coloane. The Macao Peninsula is linked to the Taipa Island by three bridges and the two islands are linked by the CoTai reclamation area. The highest hill, measuring 170.6m in altitude, is situated at the Coloane Island.
 
                 
CLIMATE:
               
The weather of Macao is subtropical to temperate, with an average temperature of 23.2o Celsius in 2007. It is humid and rainy in Spring and Summer, but relatively dry in Autumn and Winter. The typhoon season lasts from May to October and more frequent in July to September.
In 2007, there were 115 rainy days with a total rainfall of 1,466 mm, which was 667 mm less than the 30-year average observed from 1971 to 2000. For the whole year of 2007, one tropical depression, one tropical storm and one severe tropical cyclone were recorded.
